William Henry Hamblen was a pioneer with a purpose, a trail blazer, literally. This exhibit chronicles Mr Hamblen's persistence, with no formal training in road building, to forge a usable automobile road that safely traverses the Palo Duro Canyon where none existed except Native American trails. This road connected remote communities, boosting trade and opening the way for the Texas state highway 207 to come into existence, widely known as one fo the most scenic drives in the Lone Start State.
MCMA’s 2021 Roots Duo/Group of the Year Two Crows for Comfort, are a touring folk-roots duo from the prairie wonderland of Manitoba. These wandering troubadours, accompanied by their pup, Elliot, travel across North America in an 18 foot camper, playing countless shows from coast to coast to coast.
Whether it's a major festival or intimate listening room, Two Crows will have you whisked away to the coziness of your living room as they weave a warm blanket of fine crafted lyrics, powerful lead vocals and intricate harmonies. The duo's unique arrangements will keep you in suspense while their memorable melodies will stay with you long after the night is over.

Friday night, there is a special opportunity to see and hear the Brazos Valley Boys. Frequent visitors at the famous Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa, they are still on the top of the Texas Swing style (which was centered in Tulsa, believe it or not). These guys are really good...bring your lawn chairs and/or blankets, family, food and beverage, and spend the evening in a great environment for this FREE show!
This 100th Anniversary Season finale will include Beethoven's most beloved work featuring the Amarillo Master Chorale with special guest solo vocalists, along with a new commission highlighting the incredible talent of the Harrington String Quartet.
Tickets are on sale now to see The Mountain Goats Friday, April 19 @ 7:30PM at the Stiefel Theatre. The Mountain Goats’ catalog is thick with recurring characters—Jenny, who originally appears in the All Hail West Texas track bearing her name, as well as in “Straight Six” from Jam Eater Blues and Transcendental Youth side two jam “Night Light,” is one of these. Jenny from Thebes is a lush collection of showtunes, pushing Darnielle as a vocalist and the Mountain Goats as a band, broadening their sonic palette once again by leaning into influences like Godspell, Jim Steinman, and The Cars. The resulting album cuts a path that is simultaneously full of allusions longtime Mountain Goats fans will spin entire mythologies from while also being their most inviting record for those who’ve yet to be converted to the cause. Lifted by Matt Douglas’ horn and string arrangements, the dreamy guitar of Bully leader (and Bleed Out producer) Alicia Bognanno, and backing vocals from Kathy Valentine of The Go-Go’s (“Only One Way,” “Same as Cash,” “Going to Dallas”) and Matt Nathanson (“Fresh Tattoo”), Jenny from Thebes is a widescreen musical in scope, a melodrama of richly detailed characters and sweeping emotions. Tickets start @ $49 and are available at our box office at stiefeltheatre.org, in person at the Box Office at 151 S. Santa Fe or by calling 785-827-1998.
