This time, though, the bounty would be wind energy, instead of corn, wheat or soybeans.

Houston-based utility company Clean Line Energy Partners wants to produce a massive amount of wind energy on the plains. To do that, the company plans to build five large-scale high voltage transmission lines that would criss-cross the country, three of which would bring energy from Midwestern windmills to the energy grid to the east.
Sat, 26 Oct 2013 16:53:38 +0000 Durrie Bouscaren 23473 at http://hppr.org Rural neighbors split on wind energy lines Which is easiest to build, a wind farm or a transmission line? http://hppr.org/post/which-easiest-build-wind-farm-or-transmission-line
The high plains are wind-rich, but the biggest need for energy is on the populous coasts. The issue is easily seen. State Impact Oklahoma shared these maps.

The higher the wind speed, the higher the energy potential. Look where the greatest potential is.

Thu, 05 Sep 2013 05:00:02 +0000 Cindee Talley 21181 at http://hppr.org Which is easiest to build, a wind farm or a transmission line?
