Help close the gap by year’s end

Dec 16, 2013

Amid all the debate over shrinking government, cutting funding and reducing deficits, support for HPPR is one area where there’s been action and real consequences.  HPPR’s funding from the State of Kansas has been cut by 78% from its peak level.  And support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has declined 27% since 2010.  That’s left a large budget gap that you can help cover with your end-of-year private contribution.  Contribute now by clicking the red “SUPPORT HPPR” button above or respond by mail to a letter you may have received from HPPR by December 31st to claim the tax deduction this year.

Whether it’s your first contribution, a membership renewal or an additional gift, your support now will help meet our December goal of raising $50,000 in private support from individuals in order to end this year without a budget deficit.

There are other ways to make your end of year contribution besides cash.  Giving a gift of appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual fund shares or other securities is an effective way of avoiding capital gains taxes while still receiving a tax-deduction for their current full market value. If you have questions about giving securities, speak with your financial advisor, click here for detailed instructions or give us a call at 800-678-7444 for more information and assistance.  When transferring securities to HPPR, use our legal incorporation name, Kanza Society Inc., and federal tax ID number, 48-0859735.

Donating a depreciating vehicle of any type is still another way of making an end-of-year contribution and maybe taking care of something you’ve been meaning to do all year.  The process is easy.  All you need is the title and HPPR will see to the rest.  Call us at 800-678-7444 or click here for more information on getting the process started ahead of the December 31st tax-deduction deadline.
