We recently completed the changeover to a new, much improved audio management system, including a new program scheduling computer, file servers, workstations and more secure and reliable IT networking between our studios in Garden City and Amarillo. This work involved thousands of audio files and lines of programming code, so you may hear some glitches in our programming as we "burn-in" the system in the coming days. We apologize for any disruptions to your listening. If you have questions or problems to report, please contact HPPR's Technical Director, Alex Fregger (afregger@hppr.org).

Kenneth Wyatt: Uncalled to be a preacher, called to be a painter

Kenneth Wyatt is a Texas Panhandle treasure.  The 83 year old is one of the country’s, maybe the world’s, premier artists of western and religious paintings according to the Amarillo Globe-News

Wyatt was an ordained Methodist minister for 30 years until, he says, he felt uncalled to preach and called to paint.  “Every day I wake up wanting to get to the easel.  I’m jealous of that time not doing it. I’ve heard it said, ‘Isn’t it nice to know that if you like what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life?’ That’s the way I feel,” said Wyatt.
