Oklahoma Approaching Four Million Residents

downtrend.com

Oklahoma’s population inched closer to the four million mark this year. According to Census Bureau estimates the state’s population currently rests at just over 3,900,000.

The state gained an estimated 87 people a day this year. Oklahoma has gained almost 160,000 residents, since 2010. The state is expected to top 4 million within three years. Oklahoma ranks 28th out of the 50 states and the District of Columbia in population. That ranking hasn’t changed since 2010, according to the Times Record.

The Census Bureau also found that seven states lost population from 2014 to 2015. North Dakota was the fastest-growing state for the fourth consecutive year. That’s due to the resurgence in domestic oil production in the state. Since the 2010 census, the United States has gained 12.6 million people. The country now has an estimated 321.4 million people.
