Last week, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky became the first major-party presidential candidate in history to accept money from the marijuana lobby. Now Colorado Public Radio has published a storyreporting on where the various candidates stand on the issue of marijuana legalization.
While Rand Paul clearly supports legalization, he has said that he thinks the federal government ought to stay out of the fight. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has not established a clear stance, but has supported medical marijuana and decriminalization in the past. Hillary Clinton has said she is interested in seeing how the legalization efforts play out in Colorado and elsewhere. Jeb Bush thinks legalization is a bad idea, but supports the right of states to do it. Senator Marco Rubio opposes any form of legal marijuana.
