Stripers Run at Lake Texoma

The stripers are running on Lake Texoma.  Located on the border of Texas and Oklahoma, Lake Texoma is the perfect home for stripers.  It was first stocked in the 1960's, and since the ideal salinity of the water has led to not only the procreation, but thriving of the game fish.

Although, having a guide will assure your success, the supply is bountiful on the lake.  Flocks of seagulls swarm over schools of shad as the stripers feast.  The shad are driven, sometimes even leaping, out of the water in an attempt to escape the hungry fish.

High Plains Outdoors Host, Luke Clayton, took the opportunity to fish with Dave and Sparky of Sparky's Guide Service.  In Luke's words, "We fished until we were blue in the face."  It was a very successful weekend, and in the chain of life, the feasting stripers became a dinner feast for our fishermen.  Next week, Larry and Sparky will share their favorite ways to cook up their catch.
