The True Colors of Racism

Contemporary technology provides a unique and much more accurate way survey taboo subjects like racism. Using the search engine Google, Washington Postjournalist Christopher Ingraham poses the question, “Where do America’s most racist people live?”

A data source like Googleallows researchers to see opinions that are expressed without the fear of social stigma, thereby revealing the true attitudes of the subconscious. All of this is largely due to the anonymity involved in the medium.  

Ingraham cites, “If you flat-out ask someone if they're racist, they will simply tell you no. That's partly because most racism in society today operates at the subconscious level, or gets vented anonymously online.”

According to this survey the High Plains region looks to be less racist than average across the country. These true colors are revealed largely due to the anonymous filter that is the internet
