University of Nebraska-Kearney To Offer In-State Tuition For Kansas and Colorado Residents

University of Nebraska at Kearney

In an effort to recruit more out-of-state students, the University of Nebraska-Kearney will offer in-state tuition to Colorado and Kansas residents.

As Colorado Public Radio reports, the university’s Advantage Scholarship will save Colorado and Kansas students almost $28,000 in tuition over the course of four years and the scholarship will have no limit on the number of students who can receive it as long as those students are in good academic standing.

UNK has seen a decrease in enrollment over the past few years and hopes that offering the scholarship to out-of-state students will help curb that trend.

The university is hoping to expand the scholarship to other states. Other colleges have similar programs – particularly in Midwest states that struggle to keep up with the competitive environment across the country.

Ed Scantling, UNK’s Associate Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Management, said the competition for enrolling high-quality students has probably never been more fierce.
