A group of leaders from cities in Southwest Kansas traveled to Washington, D.C., and met with congressional leaders earlier this month. The group, known as the Southwest Kansas Coalition, consists of representatives from Garden City, Dodge City and Liberal. The coalition was formed to increase awareness of issues important to Southwest Kansas, reports the Dodge City Daily Globe.

A Fine High Plains Collection on View in Liberal

The new exhibit at the Coronado Museum and Dorothy’s House in Liberal, Kansas, is drawing a good deal of attention. The show consists of art and artifacts from the Rash family collection, reports and the Leader & Times.

In Western Kansas, it’s not jobs that are in short order, it’s housing.  An investor is taking measures to remedy the housing shortage in Liberal without any form of government subsidies according to a recent article from the High Plains Daily Leader.

Imagine learning in redesigned space of a 153-foot jet.  Students across the high plains will soon have that opportunity.

The southwestern Kansas housing market may benefit from a small portion of the Farm Bill signed into law Friday. The trillion-dollar piece of legislation that is largely associated with agriculture also has something to say about who gets USDA home loans in rural America.
