membership drive

As you reflect on the services you’ve counted on most in 2014, consider the hours you've spent listening to HPPR and make a tax-deductible gift of support to reaffirm the value of having public radio in your community.  Just click the red "SUPPORT" button above.  Or, if you prefer, call us now at 800-678-7444 to make your year-end contribution over the phone.

Date your check today to make your tax deductible contribution to HPPR for 2013 and mail it to 210 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS, 67846.  Or contribute now on-line by clicking the red “SUPPORT HPPR” button above.  Call 800-678-7444 with any questions or needed assistance.  However you give, it will help meet HPPR’s goal of raising $50,000 in December in order to cover sharp cuts in government support and end this year without a deficit.  Thank you for your action and support.

Year-End Giving to HPPR

Quentin Hope

HPPR tries to go the extra mile for you, all year long.  By operating a network of 21 stations HPPR is able to serve you in your community and in your travels across the High Plains region.  There are real costs to power and maintain this network, expenses that are far higher per capita than an urban public radio station reaching millions of people with a single transmitter.

We hope you’ll take a moment before the end of year to go the extra mile in supporting HPPR and the costs of its service to you and your community.  Just click on the red “SUPPORT HPPR” button above.

There are currently about 43 individuals who make annual contributions of $1,000 a year or more to HPPR – some as high as $10,000 in some years.  These are individuals who give an “extra share” above and beyond supporting their own listening.  They’re also supporting the educational, cultural and civic service HPPR provides in their community and across the wider High Plains region.

Donations of securities

Dec 17, 2013

Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual fund shares or other securities may be an advantageous way of making a major contribution to HPPR.  You can avoid capital gains taxes while also receiving a tax deduction for their full fair market value.  If making a donation, please make the transfer in the name of Kanza Society Inc., HPPR's legal incorporation, and Federal ID #48-0859735.

Amid all the debate over shrinking government, cutting funding and reducing deficits, support for HPPR is one area where there’s been action and real consequences.  HPPR’s funding from the State of Kansas has been cut by 78% from its peak level.  And support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has declined 27% since 2010.  That’s left a large budget gap that you can help cover with your end-of-year private contribution.  Contribute now by clicking the red “SUPPORT HPPR” button above or respond by mail to a letter you may have received from HPPR by December 31st to claim the tax deduction this year.

HPPR’s fall membership drive continues now, quietly, as we keep working to raise the drive’s goal of $80,000 in October that’s needed to continue public radio service to you and your community.  So, as you listen, if you haven't yet contributed, please take a moment to pledge now on-line or respond to the HPPR mailing you may have received.  Thank you!

Another HPPR progressive CD drawing is in progress.  Pledge and/or enter now to get your name in the hat:

HPPR's members challenge you to pledge now and double your support!  The total challenge amount is $1,000 and has to be fully matched between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm CT.

Today’s a pitch-free Sunday during HPPR’s fall membership drive.  All you’ll hear are some short on-air reminders – so enjoy the uninterrupted programming as usual.  Our volunteers answering the phones are also off for the day but you can still pledge on-line any time today.

HPPR’s fall membership drive is taking a break from “pitching” for your support.  All you’ll hear are some short on-air reminders – so enjoy the uninterrupted programming.  Our volunteers answering the phones have also gone home for the day.  But you can still make your pledge on-line since never sleeps.

If you've helped in reaching the tally thus far in HPPR’s fall membership drive, thank you!  If you've yet to add your new, renewed or additional support, please pledge on-line now or call 800-678-7444.  Private membership contributions are by far the largest source of support for public radio on the High Plains.

During this fall’s HPPR membership drive from October 11th to October 19th you can support both public radio and your local food bank with a single contribution.  HPPR has partnered with local sponsors and area food banks on this joint program to feed both the mind and the body.  For every pledge made to HPPR during the on-air drive, sponsors of our special “Feed your Radio, Feed a Family” fund will contribute a 4.4% match to local food shelters.
