HPPR Board of Directors & governance

High Plains Public Radio is governed by the Board of Directors of the Kanza Society Inc., the nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation that operates HPPR and holds its FCC licenses.  See below for information on upcoming board meetings, the current board membership, further background on the board and information on serving as an HPPR board member.

Next meeting of the KANZA Society Inc is Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at 9:00 AM. The meeting will be held at the HPPR Studios, 210 N 7th Street, Garden City, KS 67846.

The Annual Meeting of the KANZA Society Inc is Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at 1:00 PM. The meeting will also be held at the HPPR studios in Garden City. Nominations for the Board of Directors will be accepted and approved during this meeting. If you are interested in serving on the board, please contact Deb Oyler via email at director@hppr.org or call 800-678-7444.

The Community Advisory Council will meet during the following times:

  • Sunday, April 28th at 3:00 PM via phone conference. If you are interested in attending this meeting, please contact Deb Oyler so she can give you phone-in number.
  • Saturday, July 27th (time to be determined). This will be an in-person meeting at HPPR studios in Garden City. If you are interested in attending this meeting, please let Deb Oyler know.

The Community Advisory Council will meet April 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM via telephone conference call.  Contact Deb Oyler, Executive Director, at 1-800-678-7444 or director@hppr.org for more information.

The Annual Meeting of the Kanza Society Inc., the governing body of High Plains Public Radio, will in July 2013 at a date to be determined at the HPPR Garden City studios located at 210 North 7th Street. The Executive Committee of the HPPR Board of Directors meets monthly via phone conference on the third Wednesday of every month at 3:00pm CT.

Composition and responsibilities of the board

The HPPR (Kanza Society Inc.) board consists of 11 to 18 members, including officer positions of President, Vice-president, Secretary and Treasurer.  Board members must be current members (financial contributors) of HPPR and are not compensated for their services. 

Terms are for three years with service limited to two consecutive terms, though past members may be return to the board.  Approximately one-third of the board is elected each year.
