KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

amarillo.com

The Rev. Jacinto Alderete didn’t know he was Mexican until he moved to Texas.  Born in New Mexico, he had never experienced prejudice before according to a recent article from the Amarillo Globe-News.

Alderete graduated from Pan American University at Edinburg, and Southern Methodist University where he obtained his master’s degree.

After he completed graduate school, Alderete served at a church in Harlingen, where he became involved in the civil rights movement.

He and his wife moved to Amarillo in 1967 when he accepted the position as executive director of the Wesley Community Center.  He held that position for 31 years.

More about the honors and the life of Rev. Jacinto Adlerete is available from the Amarillo Globe-News
