Jul 21, 2013

Texas surpassed Kansas to become third in the nation in sunflower production, Texas-based magazine Country World reports.

According to 2012 numbers, Texas grew sunflowers on about 100,000 acres, with the majority in the high plains.  Texas is now ahead of neighboring sunflower producers, Kansas and Colorado, in acres planted, acres harvested, and total production.

Texas is third in sunflowers, behind North and South Dakota.
