Oklahoma Health Board Eases Proposed Restrictions On Medical Marijuana

The Oklahoma Board of Health has reversed course, now approving looser regulations for medical marijuana use in the Sooner State.

As StateImpact reports, the new rules now head to the desk of Gov. Mary Fallin for approval. The new emergency regulations are less than a third the length of the rules approved early last month. Under the new rules, a pharmacist will no longer be required to dispense marijuana.

The changes also lift a ban on smokable forms of pot, and remove the cap on THC levels.

A controversial rule that would have required a pregnancy test of all women “of childbearing age” before they received a marijuana prescription was also removed. Attorney General Mike Hunter approved the new regulations, saying the board overstepped its authority when it approved the previous rules.
