Texas commission allocates $9 billion for road improvements

Chron.com

In a sweeping move, the Texas Transportation Commission this week allocated nearly $9 billion in funding to improve Texas roads, reports The Houston Chronicle.

That money will be spread across the state, and contribute to 230 separate road-repair projects. State transportation officials cheered the upcoming investments, but also urged caution. This money has been programmed by the Texas Transportation Commission, but it still has to be approved by the state Legislature in upcoming budgets. And some state lawmakers have already hinted they might ease up on the roadway repair funding.

Transportation commissioner Victor Vandergriff noted that it takes many forces working in unison to keep a project moving forward. Not all of the proposed improvements will be completed.
