KJJP-FM 105.7 is currently operating at very reduced power and signal range using a back-up transmitter. This is because of complicated problems with its very old primary transmitter. Local engineers are currently working on that transmitter and consulting with the manufacturer to diagnose and fix the problems. We apologize for this disruption and service as we work as quickly as possible to restore KJPFM to full power. In the mean time you can always stream either the HPPR mix service or HPPR connect service using the player above or the HPPR app.

Who Will Fill Mike Pompeo's Empty Kansas House Seat?

The Wichita Eagle

Last week Donald Trump named Kansas rep. Mike Pompeo as his choice to head the CIA. Now the question for Kansans becomes, who will take Pompeo’s vacant seat in congress?

As The Wichita Eagle reports, it’s now up to Kansas’ 4th Congressional District to choose a successor.

Two candidates, one Republican and one Democratic, have already expressed interest. One is State Treasurer Ron Estes, who considered running for the 4th District seat earlier this year. In a statement, Estes said he’s been encouraged by many constituents across Kansas to consider running.

Democrat Robert Tillman may also throw his hat into the ring. Tillman, a retired court services officer, has run for the seat twice before. But given Kansans' reluctance of late to embrace GOP policies in the wake of Gov. Sam Brownback’s failed tax policies, Tillman may have a shot this time.
